I'm guilty! I know I said I wouldn't waste my time watching the BET Hip Hop Awards this year but nothing else was on the tube so I tuned in. I must say it was the most boring awards I've ever seen. Even Mike Epps lacked funniness. I will say the cyphers were wonderful however where I'm from a cypher is considered a raw freestyling battle. It was beyond obvious that everyone's rhymes were established before the show which totally took away from all of the hype. None of the A-list stars came out to support the awards this year and while the show was indeed lackluster I found it to be far less ignorant than the norm. Isn't that a sad statement? Shame on me.
Out of all of the performances one did seem to keep my attention. Wiz Khalifa performed "Taylor Gang". Sadly I couldn't understand one word of his performance and I just had to google the title of the song to include it in this post, but his choreography was awesome! It reminded me much of the dances we see Africans perform during rituals.
Now wait a minute, did he copy African choreography for his BET performance? That is blatant plagiarism. He is something else (Kevin Hart voice).

You sound just like your cousin Janssen. He hates BET!! I didn't tune in this year, even though I love Mike Epps I just wasn't up for it. Off topic..butI did enjoy that new show Reed Between the lines. It was corny but I loved the black professionals, family, & love.
ReplyDeleteI missed it but I am sure they will run the replays soon. I heard it's like a modern day Cosby Show and that was my favorite. I am still waitng on a network to put out a sitcome showing people with real struggles like real people. I think that would be awesome. They can throw some solutions in there and possible inspire a real life family.
